The following post is from Andrei:

Tragedy has once again struck our wild dog pack, this time you can consider it Armageddon for the pack. Yesterday I found that all but 2 dogs were poisoned with Temic. A goat carcass and an impala carcass was laced with poison and on further investigation we also found a large male leopard, African wild cat and an African hawk eagle dead.

What a sickening blow for you who do such great work, I'm sad for all of you and worry for the future of these dogs in the wild. Is there a plan?

I am so sad and angry, and also for the dogs, and for all of you there who have worked so hard to bring the pack along.  I will send an email to Tim Snow but wonder what can be done?  What is the plan now?

How horrifying this must have been to see.  And discouraging for all of you.  When I was there in 2008, I spent a day with Rex going to villages.  This looks like the place we stopped at when he heard about a cheetah being killed by their dogs although there were no marks on the animal.  We waited until two government officials appeared to talk to the older man and woman there.  I thought he told me about a reimbursement program for farmers that had lost livestock to predators to help alleviate the pressure to kill predators.  Does that program still exist?  If it does, it obviously isn't helpful.  This is such depressing news.  I can't imagine how it will ever get resolved.....

Argh! Have sent the information on to Tim Snow, poison control officer and conflict resolution consultant. He can be contacted at snowman@bundunet.com - worth getting in touch with him. Fiona Macleod

This is really sad news! Is there anyway productive way in which we can help to try and counter or eradicate this sort of behaviour?
