New male leopard collared

A stunning new male leopard has been collared with a GPS/VHF/UHF collar. Bogale, which means 'aggressive one', is the latest addition to the Northern Tuli Leopard Project. A report is attached.

On the 9th of June 2009, our alpha female, Cairo, gave birth to her second litter of pups. After four weeks the pups began to surface and we counted a total of 13 puppies. This is well above the average litter size of 9-10 pups. All 13 are still alive more than two months later, and becoming very brave and bold. They have now started following the adults when they go out hunting, and move 200-odd metres away from the den before being chased… Continue

Matswane - Tuli's lion king

Our first game drive on a bitterly cold July morning in the Tuli Game Reserve resulted in the usual magnificent sightings - elephant, eland, zebra, impala and an endless array of bird life. We had just driven across the Majali when I glanced down and my excitement grew as I recognized the lioness tracks in the road. Tuli lioness captured

Thanks to the generous support of friends and members of the Tuli Predator Project we were able to secure 2 radio collars to help Andrei continue with his important work of tracking lions in the Tuli and greater area. All the collars have been deployed between the Northern Tuli Game Reserve in Botswana and bordering Mapungubwe National Park in South Africa.
