Hi Fred, no luck on deploying the new collar on the wild dogs yet. Their tracks were seen on a South African farm recently. I really hope that they stay out of harms way in some of those "hostile" farms that side of the border.

Thank you, We finished a survey of large predators for all parks and are now drafting a large predator conservation action plan, we set some targets aimed at reversing carnivore population declines. As part of this initiative a camp is being established in Murchison falls NP to monitor collared lions. I look forward to a fruitful exchange.

Super. Glad to be amongst you. I have been following dogs for years now and this bunch in particular ever since Craig did his auction. I was able to watch them on two separate evenings in September - magic. I shall follow their progress with great interest, Many thanks for the links nad the delightful photos.

Thanks Fred - I normally visit Megwe camp once a year and find this network very informative as to what is happening within the Tuli Block regarding the various predators. Cheers Chad

Armageddon for the Wild Dogs

Posted on July 9, 2012 at 7:36am 8 Comments

The following post is from Andrei:

Tragedy has once again struck our wild dog pack, this time you can consider it Armageddon for the pack. Yesterday I found that all but 2 dogs were poisoned with Temic. A goat carcass and an impala carcass was laced with poison and on further investigation we also found a…

20 seconds of your time will make a WORLD of difference!

This may be an unusual forum to discuss a World Heritage, but I received the following note about a battle that is worth joining.  If anything, it is worth 20 seconds of your time to vote..... please read on:

The battle over the future of Vele colliery has come to represent the supreme example of the competing tensions between mining and conservation, of whether ecologically rich areas are more profitable conserved than…
