Felow to a pride of lions

In the TV-Channel Animal Planet we can now follow Dave Salmoni trying to be a part of a pride of lions. For me it is difficult to understand the aim with this serie. Is it to get this special pride to get used to human beings, or is it just to show how brave this man Dave Salmoni is.
Can anyone convince me anything positive with this program ?

If it is the same program I saw the other day, my view is that it is nothing more than a self-promotion of Dave Salmoni.
